About the project

GSK / DDB Remedy

GSK and DDB Remedy launched a VR app “The Migraine Experience” and set out to change the way people think about migraines using virtual reality.

A migraine is a condition that is very hard to explain to people who don’t suffer from it. Sufferers report feeling "anxious and misunderstood" about their migraines and non-migraine sufferers often don’t understand the severity of it, or think it’s just a regular headache.

The mobile app uses Google Cardboard to model migraine symptoms, such as aura and sensitivity to light, and adds these symptoms to real time video from the device’s camera to simulate the experience of a migraine. This helps non-sufferers empathise with migraine sufferers on how debilitating the symptoms of this condition can be.

My role

I was the lead UI designer on this project. I joined the team just before design sprints started. There was an initial proof of concept based on wireframes which needed to be designed and the Excedrin brand applied to it. I designed all the screens, assets and worked with the developers to test and optimise the app before it’s release.
